Going back to the save file topic, depending on the game it will be as easy as not doing anything, as the save file folder will be in a common place like "Documents/My Games/Kingdom Hearts" or "%AppData%\SquareEnix\KH3" for example, or it could be in the games installation directory which you will have to move from the saves folder of one location to the saves folder of the other.
I could transfer GTA V files from old and new Rockstar Game Club to the Epic Game Launcher without having to redownload those 60GB or so. Hell, even the game files themself could as well (bear some store related DLLs).
Now, unless there's some weird DRM BS coded in those files that needs a specific file or something related to EGS, the save files should be compatible. You could add it to Steam as a non-Steam game like a desktop shortcut, but you'll most likely need to open EGS launcher.
